A Robot Hoover Success Story You'll Never Remember

The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum can sweep and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs.  robot vacuum cleaner reviews  have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they are.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
